The new MaxRT 6,5 Creedmoor delivers at 1 000 meters

When long range shooters talk about performance, numbers alone are never enough. What really matters is consistency, predictable flight behavior, stability in changing conditions, and the confidence to make every shot count, even at extended distances. Those are the qualities that guided the development of the new Lapua MaxRange Target (MaxRT) 6,5 Creedmoor cartridge.

Built around Lapua's latest 9,3 g (144 grain) MaxRange Target bullet (GB582), this factory loaded cartridge is designed for shooters who demand exceptional performance at extended distances, whether competing in PRS, F-Class, Fullbore, NRL Hunter, or simply pushing their personal limits on the range.

Developed for long range performance

The 6,5 mm GB582 MaxRange Target bullet combines one of the highest ballistic coefficients in its class. Manufactured using advanced production technology, it has been engineered to meet the expectations of today's long range shooters. Combined with Lapua's renowned manufacturing consistency, the result is a bullet that delivers predictable flight behavior and minimal vertical dispersion at long distances.

As Lapua Sales Manager Antti explains in our MaxRange Target introduction video:

"It's not just the ballistic coefficient that matters. It's also the consistency of the bullet. Here in Lapua, we make our bullets as consistent as they can be."

Built around an outstanding bullet

At the heart of the cartridge is the 9,3 g (144 gr) MaxRange Target Open Tip Match bullet, designed to offer the combination of velocity retention, wind resistance, and stability that today's long range shooters demand.

The MaxRT 6,5 Creedmoor cartridge is optimized for rifles with a 1-8.5" twist rate, ensuring excellent bullet stabilization throughout its flight. Thanks to its outstanding ballistic design, the bullet achieves a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.670 and a G7 ballistic coefficient of 0.335, placing it among the top performers in its class. The cartridge leaves the muzzle at 812 m/s (2664 fps), delivering the velocity, consistency, and downrange performance required for today's demanding long range shooting disciplines.

Putting MaxRT to the test

To see how the new MaxRT performs, Lapua Sales Manager Antti joined Ari-Matti at Lapua's 1 000 meter shooting range. Using factory loaded MaxRT ammunition, they measured muzzle velocity, entered the data into the Lapua Ballistics app, and tested 6,5 Creedmoor MaxRange Target cartridges at distances all the way to 1 000 meters.

The results spoke for themselves. Despite rotating winds and challenging spotting conditions, the team achieved an approximately 0,7 MOA group using MaxRT ammunition, demonstrating the consistency and long range capability the cartridge was designed to deliver.

Have you tried it yet?

The MaxRange Target family was developed for shooters who demand predictable flight behavior, outstanding consistency, and confidence at extended ranges. If you're looking for a factory loaded 6,5 Creedmoor cartridge that combines Lapua's renowned quality with exceptional long range performance, the new MaxRT deserves a place in your rifle case and on your next range day.
