Today, we take a moment to cherish the memory of the victims of the biggest tragedy in Lapua’s history. In 1976, on April 13th, an explosion due to a fault in the production machinery resulted in the death of 40 people, with dozens of people injured. This devastating incident had an impact on not just the factory, but the whole town and nation. While the factory has been rebuilt and modern safety and production measures mean this tragedy could never happen again, this day and the victims will always be remembered in our hearts.
Gone, but not forgotten.
